Super Ténéré 1200 reset button fix
Переглядів 7 тис.4 роки тому
In this video I will fix the known reset button issue where when you press it nothing happens. This is an annoying problem as you wont be able to change the time, set different trip counters, change miles/km and more. I originally thought that this is caused by corrosion but I then realised that this type of defect is quite common and it is a bit strange that corrosion affects always the same p...

XT1200Z full service (pads and plugs included)
Переглядів 43 тис.4 роки тому
Almost full service on my XT1200Z. We will replace: -Oil -Oil filter -Air filter -Spark plugs -Brake pads -final gear oil (shaft) To be clear when I add silicone this is the solution used most of the time to prevent water leaking in but it is your decision if you want to do that. Also this is not required for bikes built in 2014 onward as these have a modified cylinder head to solve this proble...

Thank you for showing the part numbers. It really helps making sure I have the right part!
Thank you.
Hello brother Thank you for this wonderful video I would like to know the spark plug reference number
Sorry I missed this comment. Don't have it at hand right now but any OEM part site or a motorbike shop will have it. Just look for your bike no matter what year.
I haven't been able to figure out what the springs do. Do you think they might have come completely out and damaged more?
I could swear partzilla shows a dust cover on the left side of the rear axle bolt under the washer, but I don’t have one and neither did you. Seems like a good idea to seal such an exposed opening.
Ótimo 👍
Hi man, thanks a lot lot lot for your videos and your willingness to share knowledge. Could you pls pls do a video showing how to adjust (calibrate) the TPS sensor on this bike??
So that seat mod is simply replacing four rubber grommets to shorter? Plus one shorter too for seat locking latch or what is that called in english, anyway where hole was drilled? I just test rode super ten I'm interested and it felt excellent, but I already noticed there that is the seat angled bit too much towards tank. If I buy one I think I'll do this mod immeadiately.
What was the extension u used for the far right plug thanks great video and also great trip u had
Is the u joint serviceable???
Have you done any drive shaft/u joint videos???
I bought a 2013 s10 last year and I love it. I recently did the clutch basket upgrade and got the ecu flashed by 2wdw and it feels incredible now. I liked it before but now it’s even better in my opinion. Looking forward to all the places I go with my super tenere.
Yes I really wanted the community know that it is an awesome bike with some minor modifications. I'm glad to hear that it was not only my impression.
Does your clutch lever built pressure slowly after installation ?..i did mine and at the end I found the clutxh lever had no pressure..i did something wrong?
Something went wrong during your installation. Did you by any chance loose that bearing ball sitting in the middle? I show it in the video. I recommend you go through it again and make sure you got it right.
I did it twice because i believe i did something wrong... Nope the same happend again but slowly the lever came back to the tension it had before....
Hmm odd. Wouldn't know what happens there but I'm glad it is working now. I didn't touch it since. It has been very reliable after that.
@@Freedomachine did you press the pressure plate when you installed it or you simply attached it.. i dont know if there is a difference... sorry for my English i write you from greece Athens..
No i didn't touch the pressure plate. Everything I did is in the video. I don't think missed recording anything. Check also the manual.
Thank you for posting this so detailed video, i´ve been so grateful to learn a bit more to do by myself and save some bucks. Watching your videos i did a lot of maintenance on my S10, since brake pads to spark plugs and clutch plates replacement. Congrats and thank you for this class.
Way too much torque on the bolts and the filter. I hope they come back off without stripping it first.
The belt is slipping because I touched it with oily hands. This is why I pull so hard. Done the change many times since without problems. Other bolts were tightened just fine. Thanks for watching.
@@Freedomachine my point is. It doesn't need to be that tight. Really only hand tight. They're a real problem of they get too tight, they expand and then you have to cut them off or use a punch in which is completely unnecessary. Just watching out for a fellow YAMAHA rider.
Wow a very well done video…thanks for your effort
Interesting informative review thanks will probably be my next bike.
thanks. today I'm trying to fix my panel. same problem. Vaddy.Ireland.
Thank you for making this
This is how every video tutorial should be like ... no life history, no discussion or showing off about what else is in the garage, just a clear, concise and practical explanation of what needs to be done ...
I'm a little bit mechanically minded but definitely not experienced and what was usually simple 5-10+ years ago, the difficulty and fiddliness has increased exponentially in the modern era for whatever reason so I'll admit there was a bit of trepidation and anxiety in kicking off ... but for me this is the ABSOLUTE 'Go-To' video tutorial when you want to have a crack at servicing your Super Tenere yourself (in my case the 2010 model) ... some very minor points as suggested elsewhere on here, I'd lay a protective cloth over the carbie barrels (which he's acknowledged - I apologise but I don't know the lad's name), I'd blow / vacuum out the top of the barrels to remove any loose dirt, I wouldn't tighten the oil drain plugs that 'hard' and I'd put an old rag over the rear rim to soak up the excess / dripping shaft drive oil ... but aside of those minor, minor issues, this video, will definitely save you mega $$$'s and give you a very, very decent amount of self satisfaction.
Great series. Well done you two. Excellent scenery and great bike roads. Really miss my time in Stavanger. It has inspired me to get out and do Norway this spring time/May. Good comments on chain v shaft. In the long run shaft will always have it's drawbacks but aft 146,000 on an R100RS and 80,000 on an R90S I don't think I will ever go back to a chain drive bike again. Well done and thank you for sharing this with us.
I just done the upgrade myself well worth it its like a new bike,Thank you. #
I've just bought my second ST1200 the first one was a 2013 std and now I have a 2014 (full digital new dash) but while driving in 6th gear and around 4000rpm i can hear a clunck noise comes from the engine anyway... from your knowledge, there is any chance of this year still have the springs clutch basket or can you indicate any other reason to that noise??? My bike has only 30k kilometers...
Здравствуйте, подскажите что за проволока под диском сцепления? Она там с завода стоит?
Not sure if Google translator got your question right. Yes that wire is from factory. Everything you see is OEM. Thanks for watching.
Just did mine yesterday, it went very smoothly thanks to your easy to follow video! I’m very happy with the results the bike feels much better no more judder vibration it feels right now
Great job and I have the same bike, but far too complicated for me that I’ll keep vibrations on my travels…
Good job man. We’ll explained.
Original Yamaha Super Tenere coil packs are made by Mitsubishi and are extremely expensive. But you can buy the same identical Mitsubishi coil pack from TourMax Japan part no. IGN-218P for about one quarter the price.
Which tires did you use?
Tourance old model. It's outdated at this stage.
Thanks for the video. Did a complete service today on my S10. Runs fine again!😁
Excellent video, which shim valve diameter does the XT1200Z carry?
Excelente trabalho.
If that tubular section was a bolt-in piece...that would make this job SO MUCH EASIER! Thank you for your dedication to the filming and explanations. Much appreciated.
What's the miliage of ST10 when you replacement clutch basket, and on what miliage starts vibrations?
I think it was at around 40k. I don't remember when it started but it is different between bikes.
It was too expensive for me as Yamaha didnt offer special financing. i went with the Tracer 9 GT.
Do you need to remove the Head just to replace the Chain Tensioner only??
Unfortunately yes unless you can apply tension to the chain by removing the clutch cover. The chain might skip and you won't realize it. Better remove the head cover.
I just called the Dealer no need to remove the cover! :) @@Freedomachine
Cześć. Świetnie że znów nagrywasz 👍 Robisz świetną robotę. Właśnie chcę wymienić łożyska przy kolejnym przeglądzie. Film idealnie w czas 💪 LWG🏍️
Glad I could help☺️
Nice to see a new vidéo...and this one is really usefull 👍 In the past I had to remove the rear wheel to change the tire...and it was a real nightmare to put her back on the bike 😤 Thanks a lot 🇮🇪✌🇫🇷
Thanks for watching 😊
Muchas gracias desde España!!!!
I like your video. However, it’s not easy to change that myself. You are a good mechanical
Welcome back!!
Thanks 😊 I am not trying to make a living out of this so only post when I have something useful for my ST friends🙂
Good to see you back my friend.
Thanks☺️ will try to post a bit more. Since I'm not hoping to make real money any time soon it is harder to be consistent. Hope it helps someone.
Good job! 🇨🇦
Muito bom!!!
Excellent review. Thank you.
Hi ,nice and helpful video. Do you have a link where I can buy the parts from please?
The best review that I saw so far of the super tenere 1200 and I saw loads... Congratulations!
Thanks for watching 😊
Thanks
Great trip folks, really enjoyed it, much better than alot of others on youtube. It's strange that you don't have more views!! I think we forget how far away Ireland is from Europe by road, it's a big commitment to get to Nordkapp, well done 👍
🙏 thanks. Unfortunately I don't upload enough so the channel is not gaining traction. That is ok anyway. I'm happy when I get a comment like yours ☺️
Brilliant video, well done! I'm thinking about buying one of these, not sure yet, possibly will go for a Moto Guzzi Stelvio? great to see Ireland also
